Shillong, Mar 8: The Meghalaya Football Association is celebrating International Women’s Day with a three-day programme across three districts of the state.
Yesterday a coaching camp for girls in Ri-Bhoi was held under the guidance of Iaikyntiew Nongkynrih and Balutmon Nongneng in Umsning. At the same time in Nongstoin a referees clinic workshop for women of West Khasi Hills was held under the guidance of Ri-iohlang Dhar.
Today a women’s exhibition match will take place between Mawsawrit SC and Perkseh SC in Tyrsad from 2:30PM.
Three separate activities will be held at the JN Sports Complex in Shillong on Saturday.
First of all there will be a ‘football festival’ for girls and women of all ages at Third Ground from 9AM to 12 noon.
Then follows a coach education seminar and workshop for women at the MFA office from 1PM to 2PM.
This will then be followed by an address by Ri-iohlang Dhar, who is an AFC elite and FIFA panel referee on women’s opportunities in sports. This will also be held at the MFA office from 2PM to 2:30PM.
