Shillong, Aug 22: Three-time champions Shillong Lajong named their squad for the Shillong Premier League 2019 yesterday.
Devoid of many names that have become synonymous with the club over the years – like Samuel Lalmuanpuia, Hardycliff Nongbri, Aiban Dohling and Phurba Tempa Lachenpa – Lajong will go into this season with a core group of players who have I-League experience behind them and a large bunch of young talents.
Many of them were part of the Lajong side that won the U-18 Shillong Premier League last month. SLFC didn’t lose a single match in that league.
The team coach is Alison Kharsyntiew, with Jose C Rodriguez Hevia the technical advisor.
Lajong won the SPL three years running between 2014 and 2016, finished third in 2017 and second last year.
