Shillong, Mar 25: After a day’s break, Zone 1 action in the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s U-14 Inter District Tournament recommenced, with victories for Shillong Cricket Association and All Jaintia Cricket Association in Nongpoh today.
The afternoon match saw Shillong bowl very economically to restrict Ri-Bhoi, who had chosen to bat first after winning the toss, to 87/6 in 20 overs (Roshan Shah 18 and Pynshailang Lyngdoh 18; Parisadh Jain 2/6). In reply, SCA lost three wickets on their way to a seven-wicket victory in 14 overs (Bishesh Chettri 30; Benedick Makdoh 2/13). Chettri was named player-of-the-match in what was SCA’s third victory in as many games.
Earlier in the day, East Khasi Hills were on the receiving end of some great bowling by AJCA, who restricted their opponents to 83/9 in 20 overs (Jonathan Mawa 21; Maremdor Sutnga and Dauni Niangti 2/13). AJCA also found it tough going but managed to squeeze out a win by reaching 84/8 in 15.2 overs (Heiyoomiki Ryngkhlem 26; Prakash Marak 4/18). Ryngkhlem (pictured), who also took one wicket, was named player-of-the-match.
