Shillong, Nov 28: Meghalaya lost their opening Group A fixture of the women’s National Football Championship to defending champions Manipur 4-0 in Kuthuparamba, Kerala, today.
Meghalaya held out for most of the first half before conceding twice in stoppage time through Roja Devi and Mandakini Devi.
Yangoijam Kiranbala Chanu made it 3-0 less than 10 minutes into the second half and Thingbaijam Babysana Devi added the fourth in the 81st minute for Manipur, which is being coached by the legendary Bembem Devi.
Meghalaya will play their next match against Daman & Diu on Tuesday morning.
