Shillong, May 26: Friends United CC of Sohra and Laitjem CC won their respective matches in the East Khasi Hills’ Cricket Association’s T20 Tournament today.
Friends United won the toss against Mawryngkneng CC and opted to field first. They were then able to restrict their opponents to 129/6 in 20 overs, with player-of-the-match Wansiewdor Lyndem (featured photo) claiming 3/15 in four overs, while Felix Kharsati top-scored for Mawryngkneng with 40 off 34 balls.
In the chase, Friends United made 130/5 in 18.1 overs, led by Kitdor Majaw’s 44 off 34. Nangshai Nongpluh returned figures of 3/16 for Mawryngkneng.
Later, Mawlong CC won the toss against Laitjem and posted a challenging 159 all out in 19.3 overs. Bantei Malngiang hit 27 from 14 deliveries and Ritchie Diengdoh 26 from 17 while player-of-the-match Rokerben Kharpuli (3/24) and Anthony Pathaw (3/43) bagged three wickets each.
In reply, Poilang Thawmuit led Laitjem with a half-century (53 off 39) while Banlam Kharsati contributed 47 off 32 deliveries. Malngiang (2/22) bagged a brace for Mawlong.
