Shillong, Jun 26: Meghalaya bowed out of the Junior Girls National Football Championship after suffering a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Delhi in their final round of Group C matches in Guwahati today.
With two wins and two draws, Meghalaya finished third in the group, behind rampant toppers Bihar and second-placed Delhi.
Only the top team from each group qualifies for the next round.
Bihar won all their matches and conceded just one goal, which was scored by Meghalaya’s Makrisha Songthiang.
Songthiang also scored one goal against Madhya Pradesh and a hat-trick over Telangana to finish Meghalaya’s top scorer with five goals.
