Shillong, Aug 17: The Shillong Sports Association has been awarded with hosting rights of the U-13 and U-17 categories of the East Zone of the Meghalaya Football Association’s new Meghalaya State Youth League, which will begin – tentatively – at the end of this month.
While the SSA has responsibility for the U-13 and U-17 categories, the Tyrsad Area Sports Association will run the U-15 event.
The SSA-organised matches will take place in Shillong and Mawphlang. The SSA has invited clubs taking part in the Shillong Premier League the opportunity to field U-13 and U-17 teams and intimate their willingness to participate to the association by 25th August in writing, failing which, “teams from other affiliated associations under the East Zone and academies will be invited instead”, a letter to the SPL clubs states.
U-13 players should be born on or after 1st January 2010 and U-17s on or after 1st January 2006.
