Shillong, Oct 11: Meghalaya lost to Hyderabad by 28 runs in an exciting start to their Senior Women’s T20 Trophy campaign in Bangalore today.
Meghalaya won the toss and chose to field first, restricting their opponents to 92/7. Bad weather reduced the match to 17 overs a side.
Debasmita Dutta, the Meghalaya captain, claimed the best figures, returning 2/22, while Riticia Nongbet (1/11), Sejal Raut (1/11) and Ajima Sangma (1/16) bagged one each.
In the chase, Meghalaya got off to a rocky start, losing two wickets in the first two overs but guest players Vaincy Chaudhary (20) and Anita Lodhi (11) helped their side fight back with a 27-run third wicket partnership.
Helpful runs were also provided by Dutta (10) and Ajima (10 not out) but the team could not keep up with the run rate required and finished short of the target.
