Shillong, Jul 21: Exciting young footballer Iaraplang Nongrum will leave for Nashik in Maharashtra tomorrow after being given a place in Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools’ residential academy there.
Nongrum has been playing in the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s League this season for Laitkor SC.
She scored five goals in Laitkor’s opening match and has continued to contribute, which has helped her club reach the semifinals, which will also take place tomorrow.
Nongrum also played for Iewrynghep Secondary School in the U-17 girls’ Subroto Cup this year. Her school won the final of the East Khasi Hills district level tournament earlier this month with Nongrum scoring a goal in the title match.
As part of her selection by BBFS, her education, lodging, etc will be taken care of by the academy.
