Shillong, Dec 5: The Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association is sending a contingent to take part in the IMF North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition to be held in Chemchey, Sikkim, from 7th to 10th December.
Trials for the event, supported by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, were held on 2nd December, followed by two days of training that ended today.
Thirteen climbers have been selected to represent Meghalaya. Hunlin Lyngdoh will be the team manager.
Meanwhile, four members of the association – Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih, Bakordor Umsong, Teimiki Sungoh and Ibakordor Shisha Mary Sawian – will officiate at the zonal competition as judge, route setters and belayer respectively.
In a press release today, MeSCMA expressed gratitude to the Commandant of 58 Gorkha Training Centre in Happy Valley for allowing the members and climbers to use their climbing wall for the selection and training purposes ahead of the zonal competition.
