Shillong, Jan 23: Meghalaya pulled off a convincing victory in their first Group A match of the Khelo India Youth Games 2024 in Chennai today, roundly defeating Uttar Pradesh 4-1 today morning.
Mebanlamlynti Masharing scored a brace, with Bipiush G Marak and Mebannangkiew Thabah contributing one goal each for Meghalaya.
Meghalaya’s next match will be against Punjab on Thursday at 3PM.
Meghalaya and six of the other teams qualified for this tournament after they finished as the best seven teams at last year’s Junior National Football Championship (Tier 1). Tamil Nadu, meanwhile, qualified as hosts.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals.
