Shillong, Mar 14: Nongdawah CC and Cricket Lovers CC won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today.
Nongdawah beat Mawryngkneng CC by 68 runs in the first match, while Cricket Lovers were 20-run victors over Sohra Combine CC. Both winners batted first after winning the toss.
Batting their full 20 overs, Nongdawah scored 140/9, with the top score being just 17 from Marremdor Kharsati. Bahrang Lawai claimed 4/28 in 4 overs to finish with the best figures.
In reply, though, Mawryngkneng were skittled for just 72 in 17.3 overs, with Ruston Lamare top-scoring with 20, while Player of the Match Kyrmenskhem Nongpluh (pictured left) took 3/15 in 4 overs.
Later, Cricket Lovers put up 147/6 on the scoreboard in 20 overs, with a half-century by the suitably named Winningstar Khongjoh (51 from 45 deliveries). Mangkara Diengdoh bagged 2/29 in 4 overs.
Sohra Combine came fairly close but were restricted to 127/8 in their 20 overs. Mangkara hit 29 from 22 balls, while Prem Lama netted 2/15 in 4 overs. Winningstar (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.
