Shillong, Mar 23: Laitjem CC defeated Mawryngkneng CC by 10 wickets in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit yesterday. Thangsning CC were the winners of the other match, by five wickets against Pomshutia CC.
Laitjem chose to field after winning the toss and a perfect effort saw them rumble their opponents for a paltry 47 in 18.3 overs, with eventual Player of the Match Arnold Shadap (pictured left) netting 3/4 in 3 sublime overs. Laitjem needed just 3.5 overs to chase down the target, doing so without loss. Marken B Kharkongor was the top scorer with 31 not out from 15 balls.
Later, Thangsning also won the toss and chose to field first. Pomshutia, in this instance, batted out their full 20 overs but could only made 76/9. Aristerwell Suting hit 33 from 51, while Richard Marx (pictured right) claimed 3/11 in 4 overs.
Thangsning lost five wickets in the chase but were still victorious in 15.2 overs. Richard made 27 from 36 and he was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance. Shembhalang Pyngrope bagged 4/5 in 4 overs but couldn’t swing the tide in favour of Pomshutia.
