Shillong, Aug 2: Meghalaya earned a 1-0 victory in their last match of the Junior Boys National Football Championship (Tier 1) 2024, beating Karnataka in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, yesterday.
The win could be important to help Meghalaya avoid dropping out of Tier 1 and into Tier 2, though TSR is unsure how the All India Football Federation works this out exactly.
It was, at the very least, a chance to avoid the wooden spoon in Group C and the lone goal was scored by Banteilangki Sumer (9′) early on.
Meghalaya thus finished with one win after losing their previous two games to Chandigarh and Punjab. Karnataka finished at the bottom of the group with three defeats.
Chandigarh progressed to the semifinals after beating Punjab 1-0 in the other match of the day to top Group C.
