Shillong, Aug 3: The draws for Tiers 1 and 2 of the Sub-Junior Boys’ National Football Championship and the corresponding draws for the Girls’ event were conducted in New Delhi yesterday.
Meghalaya is in Tier 1 of both the boys’ and girls’ championships. The sub-junior girls were semifinalists last year and were awarded joint bronze medals.
The Tier 1 of the Sub-Junior Boys’ NFC will be played in Karnataka from 7th September, while Tier 1 of the Sub-Junior Girls’ NFC will be played in West Bengal from 2nd September.
Meghalaya have been drawn with Mizoram, Odisha and Delhi in Group C of the boys’ event and Gujarat, Karnataka and one other team (the All India Football Federation website has Gujarat listed twice) in Group B of the girls’.
The 2023-24 edition of the Sub-Junior Boys’ NFC Tier 1 saw Mizoram become champions while and Bihar won the Tier 2 title.
Jharkhand (who defeated Meghalaya in the semifinals) were crowned champions of the 2023-24 Sub-Junior Girls’ NFC Tier 1 and Karnataka were the winners of Tier 2.
