Shillong, Aug 16: Nongumlong SC and Mawryngkneng SC won their respective matches in Group A of the Shillong Sports Association Third Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Nongumlong beat Lapalang SC 3-1 before Mawryngkneng blanked Pomlakrai SC 3-0.
Nongumlong and Lapalang were playing their second match of the season and Riskhem Khriam (19′) put the former into the lead before Lapalang equalised via Sonjalen Haokip (38′).
A Marquis Myrthong (71′, 77′) brace in the second half then gave Nongumlong their first victory after they lost to Kharang SC in the opener on 25th July. This was Lapalang’s second defeat and by exactly the same margin as their first.
Later, Mawryngkneng and Pomlakrai played their first match of the season. The former cruised to victory with a double by Iohbor Mukhim (26′, 33′) and one goal by Rishot Sari (65′).
The next match will be on 19th August between Mawpat SC and Iaityllilang SC in Group B at 12:45PM, which is before the second semifinal of the Fourth Division between Madanrting SC and Madan SCC at 3:45PM.
