Shillong, Sep 3: Nongkrem SC and Jongksha SC were involved in a thrilling seven-goal match today, with Nongkrem coming through as 4-3 winners in Group B of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here.
The other match of the day, also in Group B, saw Mylliem Lum SC comfortably beat Pay For Right Academy 3-0.
Zothanpuia Bawihtlung (4′, 10′) pumped in two goals within the first 10 minutes of the match for Nongkrem and Jefferson Pakyntein (26′) made it 3-0 in under half an hour.
However bad that may have felt for Jongksha, they didn’t let it get them down and fought back with two goals before half time, one by Donbok Lyngdoh (37′) and another by Basuk Bina (45′).
Donbok levelled proceedings in the 64th minute and it appeared as though the momentum was now firmly with Jongksha. However, Banlum Kharsyntiew (90’+1) found one in stoppage time to give Nongkrem the full 3 points.
Earlier, in a rematch of the Third Division 2023 final (which PFR won 2-0), Mylliem Lum got their revenge by beating the academy team.
Balan Mawlong (8′, 81′) and Rapborlang Jana (88′) were the scorers for Mylliem Lum today.
