Shillong, Sep 23: The quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The fixtures were shared with the press today and the SSA thereby confirmed that Umpling SC and Mawkriah West SC qualified for the last-eight from Group C.
Readers will remember that this group was a little complicated as there were three teams all tied on the same points and goal difference. Head-to-head between the three was of no use either as they had all picked up one win against the other two. Umpling were thus first according to goals scored (11) but Mawkriah West and Lawmali SC were tied even on this measure.
Second place thus had to be decided by the toss of a coin, which was done in front of the representatives of both teams.
The quarterfinals will be held over two days with a double-header on each day.
Tuesday will see Group A toppers Mawryngkneng SC take on the second-placed team from Group B, Lumparing SC, at 12:15PM. That clash will be followed by Group B winners Mawpat SC versus Group A runners-up Kharang SC.
Umpling will go up against Group D runners-up Sanmer at 12:15PM on Wednesday, followed by Group D winners Tynring SC against Mawkriah West at 3PM.
All matches will be held at the SSA Stadium at First Ground.
The semifinals will then be held on 28th September, with the final to take place on 2nd October.
