Shillong, Oct 14: Nongkrem SC finished on top of Group B of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2024 after trouncing PFR Academy 6-0 in their final round robin game at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Jongksha SC later ended second with a 3-0 victory over Marbisu SC.
Nongkrem and Jongksha will progress to the semifinals with Group A toppers Meghalaya Police and Laitkyrhong SC.
MLP were first in Group A and will face Jongksha on 18th October at 2:30PM. Nongkrem will then take on Laitkyrhong the following day at 2:30PM. Both matches will be played at First Ground. The final will then take place on 25th October.
Today, six different Nongkrem players scored a goal each – Badon Marbaniang (31′) and Sawadame Tang (34′) in the first half followed by Donkupar Andy Kharmyndai (75′), Jefferson Pakyntein (78′), Zothanpuia Bawihtlung (86′) and Rangky Kharjana (90’+2) in the second.
That was enough for Nongkrem to confirm top spot in the standings. Jongksha were already No. 2 and sealed that position with a dominant performance over Marbisu, with goals by Iashah Kharsahnoh (44′), Iohbor Nonglyer (64′) and Pyniaidlang Songthiang (90’+1).
