Shillong, Feb 9: The Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, began here yesterday with wins for Nongmensong CC and Lumpyngad SCC in the first two matches.
Nongmensong defeated Donkin SCC by eight wickets in Group A yesterday, while Lumpyngad beat Rangkynsai CC by 25 runs in Group B today.
Donkin won the toss and batted first but were skittled for 95 in 28.5 overs, with Rohit Rai’s 32 from 36 balls being the top score. Akash Mahato returned figures of 3/19 in 7 overs for Nongmensong, who chased down the modest target in a mere 12.2 overs for the loss of two wickets. Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva struck 43 from 37 deliveries, while Kush Agarwal hit 36 from 30. Akash (pictured) was the Player of the Match.
Today, Lumpyngad won the toss and also batted first. Rahul Shah was just short of a half-century, finishing with 48 from 71 balls as Lumpyngad were dismissed for only 133 in 30.2 overs. Adarsh Joshi shone with the ball by claiming 5/25 in 7.2 overs.
In reply, Rangkynsai were bundled out for 108 in 35.3 overs. Vishal Balmiki claimed 4/22 in 8.3 overs and Rahul 3/22 in 8, with the all-round performance with bat and ball earning the latter the Player of the Match award.
Ajay Duhan top-scored for Rangkynsai with 24 from 38.
There are 12 teams in the Super Division, divided into two groups of six. Group A consists of Royal CC, Donkin SCC, Sporting CC, Sputnik Spartan CC, Nongmensong CC and Langsning CC. Group B consists of Rankynsai CC, Lumpyngad SCC, NFU, United XI, Raj Bhavan and Sputnik CC.
Tomorrow Royal will take on Nongmensong at 8:30AM.
