Shillong, Aug 2: Meghalaya’s Iminstar Mawlong is in Goa at trials to help select probables for the India U-17 boys’ national team.

The teenager is part of Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools Shillong and he is the only player from Meghalaya in the list of 12 names supplied by the All India Football Federation, with the others coming from Goa, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Manipur and West Bengal.

Iminstar has been a bright feature of youth football tournaments in the past couple of years, having represented Meghalaya in the Subroto Cup 2023 and Junior Boys National Football Championship 2024, the victorious Shillong Sports Association U-16 team in last year’s inaugural Meghalaya Youth League as well as Madan SCC, the champions of the SSA’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024.

He then went on loan to Nongkseh where he became one of the youngest players to score in the SSA’s First Division.

The trials will run until 4th August.
