Shillong, Aug 7: Kyrmen Mukhim’s 60th minute goal proved to be the difference as Mawkasiang secured a place in the final of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 by beating Lummawbah 1-0 in the second semifinal at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Mawkasiang will meet Mawlynrei in the final. Mawlynrei had edged Lapalang in the first semifinal yesterday.
All four teams that reached the semis have already secured promotion to next season’s Third Division.
Today’s match was arguably one of the best of the entire Fourth Division this year and Mawkasiang made their intentions known early as they had three good chances in the first three minutes.
Lummawbah started to come back soon after and there were great opportunities created by both sides.
Kyrmen got his goal on the hour as Lummawbah were looking for an offside call. However, he seemed to have judged his run well and had just the opposing goalkeeper to slip past and then he was on his way to scoring into an open net.
Conceding lifted Lummawbah but they were unable to find a goal of their own, though they were inches away from doing so when a shot in the 72nd minute struck the upright.
The final is slated to take place on 16th August.
