Shillong, Oct 15: Karatekas representing Meghalaya at the 4th North East Zone Karate Championship 2025 earned a rich haul of 62 medals – 12 gold, 11 silver and 39 bronze – the All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association informed today.
The championship, for sub-junior, cadet, junior, U-21 and senior categories, ran from 11th to 12th October in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
AMKA sent a strong contingent of 108 karatekas plus seven team officials and eight technical officials and they brought pride and recognition for their state.
The gold and silver medallists will represent the North East zone at the upcoming KIO (Karate India Organisation) All India Inter Zone Karate Championship 2025, which will be held in Goa in December.
In addition, Kynjailin L Mawnai, a bronze medallist at the 9th South Asian Karate Championship 2025, which was held in Sri Lanka in July, was felicitated by the organisers in recognition of her international achievement.
