Shillong, Oct 30: Meghalaya qualified for the semifinals of the Sub-Junior Boys National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier 2) after beating Himachal Pradesh 4-0 in their last Group C match in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, today morning.
Marbiang Marwein (8′, 39′, 45’+2) scored a first half hat-trick to take his personal tally of goals to 9 for the tournament. He also received a third consecutive Player of the Match award.
The other Meghalaya goal was produced by Wanpyndapbor Nongsiej (62′).
With dominant victories also over Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, coached by Dapmon Tariang, scooped up a full 9 points from a perfect three games and qualified for the semifinals as the top team from Group C.
Meghalaya will now face their biggest challenge yet as they go up against Telangana in the first semifinal on 1st November at 8:30AM. Telangana, in Group A, had also won all of their matches to reach the knockout round.
