Shillong, Jan 18: Massar 8 Bros defeated Laitkor SC 2-0 in the final of the 4th Shortimai Knockout Football Tournament in Smit yesterday.
L Suchiang (35′) and Mebanshngain Kurkalang (38′) were the scorers.
As champions, Massar 8 Bros received a cheque of Rs 3 lakh, presented by Banteidor Lyngdoh MLA, who is also the President of the Shillong Sports Association. The runners-up received Rs 1.5 lakh, presented by the Syiem Khynnah of Hima Khyrim, Habapan Sing Syiem.
Individual prizes were also distributed. Mebanshngain was named Player of the Final, Suchiang the Top Scorer, Apborlang Kurbah the Player of the Tournament and Banshanskhem Kharsyntiew the Best Goalkeeper.
Other awards were handed over to notable sportspersons and coaches of Smit.
