Shillong, Feb 26: Defending champions Cricket Lovers won their second consecutive match of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 at Saitsohpen, Sohra, today.
Cricket Lovers stormed past Sportopia SCC by nine wickets in Group A and, in the second match, Hurdles CC edged Friends United by two wickets in Group B.
Batting first after they won the toss, Sportopia were limited to 118/9 in 20 overs, with Banshankur Sohtun’s 33 from 39 deliveries being the top score. Damechwa Khongsngi (3/13 in 4 overs) and Mewankitbok Kharpuri (3/14 in 4) were the best bowlers for Cricket Lovers.
Mewankitbok would be vital to the chase as well as he led the way with 75 from 43 balls. Cricket Lovers polished off the required runs in just 11 overs and Mewankitbok picked up his second Player of the Match award in a row.
Later, Friends United won the toss and chose to bat but the decision didn’t go their way as they were dismissed for 97 in 16.2 overs. Nangkiewkor Moore Don hit 24 from 23 balls, while Rickystone Nongbet claimed 3/29 in 3 overs.
In reply, Hurdles were under pressure but reached 100/8 in 17.1 overs. Bryan Marbaniang was brilliant for his 4/5 in 4 overs but it proved to be in a losing cause. Nangsan S Kynter’s 32 from 40 deliveries was Hurdles’ top score an he was adjudged Player of the Match.
