Shillong, Feb 2: Meghalaya won their opening boys’ football match in the Khelo India Youth Games 3-1 over Odisha in Indore today morning.

Cannyson Kharnaior scored the opening goal to put Meghalaya in front in the 16th minute while Fashioning Syngkli doubled the lead in the 37th.

Odisha then pulled a goal back in the 77th minute via Jitendra Kumar Birua.

Meghalaya were able to restore their two-goal lead with a third strike in second half stoppage time through Daohipaia Rymbai (90’+4).

Meghalaya’s next Group B match will be against West Bengal on Saturday at 2:30PM. Meghalaya had trounced the same opponents last year and will look for a repeat performance.
