Shillong, Apr 12: Sputnik CC and Royal CC will meet in the final of the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, after both came through their respective semifinals over the weekend.
Sputnik defeated SCA Super Division 2025-26 champions Rangkynsai SC by eight wickets in the first semi, while the Royals beat Langsning CC by 25 runs in the second.
The final will be held on Monday.
Sputnik won the toss and chose to field first in their last-four match and they were able to restrict Rangkynsai to 123/9 in 20 overs, which was a sub-par score for one of the strongest teams in the tournament. Rahul Dalal made 32 from 24 balls and Aryan Borah a run-a-ball 25. Arbin Singh (2/22 in 4 overs) and Swarajeet Das (2/23 in 4) were the most successful bowlers.
The chase was easy enough with Sputnik losing just two wickets on their way to victory. Kshitij Singhania top-scored with 32 from 22 deliveries, while Punit Bisht made 30 from 19. Swarajeet was declared Player of the Match.
Later, Royal CC decided to bat first after winning the toss and they posted 154 all out in 20 overs, with Raj Biswa hitting 48 from just 23 balls and Reshab Dipak 23 not out from 17. Bishal Roy took 3/21 in 4 overs and Chengkam Sangma 2/26 in 4.
Langsning were outplayed in the chase and were all out for 129 in 19.5 overs. Bishal had a good innings to go with his excellent bowling and scored 45 from 34 balls. Reshabh, however, proved particularly damaging with the ball, claiming 4/19 in 4 overs and he was named Player of the Match. His team mate Pringsang Sangma, meanwhile, returned figures of 2/16 in 3 overs.
