Shillong, Aug 10: Meghalaya’s Dakahi Kyndait took first place in the World Championship 2026 Ladakh Trail to Heaven 100km race female category.
This is an extreme trail event, which was held over three distances – 35km, 100km and 100 miles (158km). Dakahi’s 100km event also required participants to cope with a nearly 4000m change in elevation from start to finish.
Athletes had to arrive at least a week early to acclimatise to the elevation.
Dakahi received a cheque of $500 (Rs 47,645 at today’s exchange rate). Her achievement was praised by the Meghalaya Chief Minister on social media.
