Shillong, Sep 4: Mawpat defeated Tynring 7-1 in the first quarterfinal of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2026 at the SSA Stadium here today.
In the Relegation Zone, meanwhile, Jongksha took a step in the right direction by trouncing Lumshyiap 8-1.
Dajiedlang Wanshnong (10′, 29′), Donboklang Lyngdoh (33′, 55′, 81′) and Aibok Lawriniang (90’+3) were Mawpat’s scorers, while Nelsonroy Mynsong (12′) provided Tynring’s lone goal early on in the game.
This was Donboklang’s second hat-trick of the season; he had scored four goals against Lumshyiap during the group stage.
Over at the MFA Ground, Babiang Umsong (30′, 80′, 87′) scored a treble of his own in Jongksha’s massive win. His teammates Nangiar Kshiar (10′), Bishar Nongspung (31′), Fernando Malieh (38′), Janbor Nongspung (64′) and Iaishah Kharsahnoh (79′) were the other scorers. Lumshyiap’s only goal was by Demanding Syngkli (25′).
The best team of the three in the Relegation Zone will be safe in the Second Division for another season. The other team in contention is Mawkriah West.
