Shillong, Sep 14: The First Division and Super Division 2026 of the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association began in Khliehriat today.
In the First Division, which is played for the Thomas Nongtdu Memorial Trophy, Khliehriat East YWSC pipped Musniang SC 1-0 in Pool A with a 75th minute goal by Kyntulang Nongwar.
The league was opened by Sutnga Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla in the presence of Rymbai MDC Violet Lyngdoh, Jalaphet Bri-Sumer MDC Krison Langstang and Sutnga Nongkhlieh MDC Hambertus Nongtdu, among others.
Later, in the Super Division opener, Byndihati CSC drew 1-1 with Wahiajer Narpuh SSC. The Super Division is being contested for the 6th Kyrmen Shylla contribution trophy.
Lungouhoo Hangshing (16′) scored for Byndihati before Any Manar (28′) equalised later in the first half.
