Shillong, Oct 27: Debasmita Dutta hit a fantastic 72 in a losing cause as Meghalaya were beaten by Bihar off the very last delivery in their Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026-27 plate group match in Sovima, Nagaland today.
Debasmita opened the batting and was dismissed only in the 20th over. She led the way for her team with 72 from 69 deliveries, whacking 13 fours in the process. She was the only batter to reach double figures as Meghalaya were restricted to 100/5.
Meghalaya made the chase a difficult one with good bowling from the likes of Inda Kharwanniang (2/13 in 4 overs), who was the most economical of the lot. Neha Hajong (1/16) and Ajima Sangma (1/27) were the other wicket-takers.
Bihar required 4 to win off the final over and, despite a run out off the third ball, they managed to squeak over the line, finishing on 101/6.
For her fine effort, Debasmita was named Player of the Match. This was her second award in a row after the game against Arunachal Pradesh yesterday, which Meghalaya won.
Meghalaya will take on Manipur next on Thursday.
