Shillong, Nov 2: Away from Jakrem SC’s amazing success, there was another team to make it through to the Indian Women’s League 2 final round with a strong Meghalaya connection – the Mumbai-based SC Bacaim.

Bacaim finished as the second-placed team in Group A and, crucially, they were the best runners-up overall; the four group winners and the two best second-placed teams across the groups will advance to the six-team final round.

The two Meghalayans in the squad were Ribahunshisha Kharshiing and Alisha Lyngdoh (pictured left and right). They have both represented the India U-17 women’s football teams, though at different times.

Alisha played in all four Bacaim matches from start to finish and scored a goal in the team’s first win, which was a 5-0 triumph against the Sports Authority of Gujarat. Ribahun played in three of the four fixtures for a total of 231 minutes.

Bacaim’s other results were 2-0 against GNDU FC of Punjab, 7-1 versus Mata Rukmani FC and their lone defeat, a 2-1 loss to United Kolkata SC.
