Shillong, Nov 6: Meghalaya finished as the overall winners of the Muay Thai National Championship 2017 and Pro-Am Title Belt Championship, held in Shillong, with 79 points, followed by Assam in second (57 points) and Mizoram (55).
Enifer Nongkynrih of Meghalaya and Ngursaimawia Sailo of Mizoram were the Best Fighters of the tournament.
Another standout from the host state was Banjoplang Ryndem, who came away with a silver medal in the Pro-Am fight, where he lost to Sailo.
A total of 240 athletes and officials from 19 states took part in the championships.
The medal winners will take part in the IFMA World Muay Thai Championship in Mexico next year as well as the FISU University Championship 2018 in Thailand.
