Shillong, Dec 26: Shillong Lajong FC ended 2017 in defeat, going down in the I-League to development side Indian Arrows 3-0 in New Delhi today.

Jeetendra Singh, Nongdamba Naorem and Rahul KB scored in the Boxing Day match to lift the Arrows to sixth place from ninth. This was Lajong’s second consecutive defeat and third of the 2017-18 season.

Jeetendra got the first goal in the 19th minute following a free-kick and 1-0 was how the first half concluded.

The Reds were reduced to 10 men just after the hour mark after second half substitute F Lalrohlua was found guilty of two yellow card offences within the span of four minutes.

The Arrows then made absolutely sure of ending the year with their second win when goals were scored by substitutes Nongdamba (86′) and Rahul (90+1).

SLFC thus conclude 2017 with 10 points from seven outings. Lajong have played more games than any other team in the league, which means their fourth place will be in danger as the other sides play out the matches they have in hand.
