Shillong, Mar 15: Langsning FC coach Hering Shangpliang was pleased with his side’s 2-1 victory yesterday in their opening match of the Second Division League against Chennaiyin FC reserves, but he admitted that there are areas where his boys need to work more on.
“The main positives are that the players are fit, they are working hard and working as a team, but we have to improve on our finishing,” Shangpliang said at the post-match press conference. “We are waiting on a striker from Brazil (Jacson Glei Da Silva Clemente) who has had visa issues. Once he arrives we should improve our striking,” the coach added.
He also paid tribute to Chennaiyin, saying, “They are a very good team. Many of their players are in the Indian junior team.”
Langsning have only a few days before their next Group C fixture, which will be against the reserve team of Bengaluru FC. That match will be played in Shillong on 19th March at 4PM and will be Bengaluru’s first of the competition.
“Over the next few days I have to build confidence and motivate our players so that they are 100% ready for the next match,” Shangpliang concluded.
