Shillong, Jun 20: Shillong Lajong ended the third full round of the U-18 Shillong Premier League 2018 in top spot after a convincing 4-0 victory over Malki here today.

Lajong bagged the lead in the 18th minute via an own goal after a Malki defender and goalkeeper collided while trying to clear the ball away from a dangerous position. Glennys Lynrah then made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute after he latched onto the ball from very close range.

Malki put up some fight, to be sure, but they were a little lacking in their passing and touches.

They conceded another two goals in the second half, the first coming in the 58th minute when Freestar Kharbangar fed the ball forward and Apborlang Kurbah beat the Malki goalie to the ball and tapped it into the back of the net.

Then, in the 89th minute a push on the back of a Lajong player in the box gave SLFC a penalty, which was converted by Joshua Rinlianagente.

The final bit of action today saw Malki almost pull a goal back, but Chibor Ryngkhlem’s strike from distance cannoned into the crossbar.

Lajong now have seven points, two ahead of Langsning and Rangdajied United, and are the only team to have won two out of their first three games. They have also scored the most goals (6) and only conceded the once.

Tomorrow fifth-placed Sawmer will take on fourth-placed Nangkiew Irat at 3:45PM.
