Shillong, Oct 3: Sunriser FC defeated Umpling FC 2-1 in the final of the Pay For Right Shillong Above-40 Veteran Football Tournament held at the JN Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Sunriser’s striker Pynskhem Garod scored the first goal in the 15th minute after his team were awarded a penalty. Six minutes later Umpling FC scored an equaliser through M Raj.

Umpling maintained their defensive tactics in the second half, giving Sunriser only a few chances at the target, but Moonlight Byrsat managed to find the second and deciding goal in the 65th minute.

The winning team received a cash award of Rs 30,000 along with the running trophy, while the runners-up received Rs 15,000 along with a running trophy.

Health Minister AL Hek was the chief guest on the occasion, while renowned former Indian footballer Rocus Lamare and Amit Rai, both of whom were coaches at the PFR Soccer Camp 2018, were guests of honour.

Striker Nicksonlang Lyngdoh of Friends United was the Top Scorer of the tournament while Elias Dhar of Umpling got the Best Goalkeeper award.
