Shillong, Oct 20: The U-19 Meghalaya men’s team hammered Sikkim by 198 runs in their Vinoo Mankad Trophy one-day match in Bhubaneshwar today.
After being put in to bat first Meghalaya reached a total of 288 all out in 49.5 overs with Hrithik Sharma smashing 109 off 107 deliveries. Raghav Kapur, coming in at number three, really smashed the ball around the park before he was dismissed for 79 off just 47 deliveries.
Sikkim struggled to chase down the target and were bowled out for 90 in 35 overs. Abhishek claimed 5/23 and Aryan 3/18 to emerge as the best bowlers for Meghalaya.
Women’s U-19 T20 League
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya U-19 women’s team lost their T20 fixture against Hyderabad in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, today by 198 runs.
Hyderabad made 221/5 in 20 overs after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Thymmei Lyngdoh bagged 2/38, Dasanbaniewkor Wahlang 2/40 and Deiphibapynshngain L Mawnai 1/46. Meghalaya were then bowled out for 23 in 15.3 overs. Neha Hajong top-scored with 11.
Meghalaya will take on another giant state – Punjab – tomorrow at the same venue.
