Shillong, Oct 25: Mylliem won the final of the Third Division 2018 with a 1-0 victory over Umphyrnai at the SSA Stadium here today.

David Kupar Kurkalang scored the only goal in the 52nd minute. All matches in the Third Division are of 70 minutes’ duration.

Mylliem took home the trophy and a cheque for Rs 20,000. Umphyrnai were awarded Rs 10,000.

As the top two teams out of the 37 that contested the Third Division this year, both Mylliem and Umphyrnai will be in next season’s Second Division.

Mylliem started the more aggressive team and created plenty of opportunities, but finishing was not their strong point in the first half. After constantly being under pressure in the opening minutes of the contest, Umphyrnai started to press forward and they thought they had bagged a goal towards the end of the first half, but it was disallowed after the linesman spotted a player offside.

Saturday will see the final of the Second Division to be played between Mawkhar and Lawsohtun at 2PM.
