Shillong, Jan 23: Meghalaya lost their final Group A match of the U-23 Women’s T20 League to Uttar Pradesh by nine wickets in Kochi today.
Meghalaya won the toss and chose to bat. Two of their batsmen – L Tamang (19) and Debasmita Dutta (16) – got into double figures, but when these two were dismissed the others to follow found it increasingly hard going against the stronger UP side.
Meghalaya finished on 59/9 and UP chased down the required runs for the loss of just one wicket, which fell when Tamang ran out Shobha Devi.
After six matches, Meghalaya have ended with one win and five defeats. It was a very challenging competition, having to play against much stronger teams. The only one where they were up against a team of similar strength was against Manipur, which they won by four wickets on Monday.
Meghalaya thus end with four points, one place ahead of Manipur in the seven-team group.
