Shillong, Feb 1: Aiban Dohling, a key plank in Shillong Lajong’s defence, is rumoured to be heading to FC Goa at the end of the I-League.
The Indian Super League club, who are struggling defensively having conceded more goals (17) than any other side in the top six, have offered the Sohra native a two-year contract, Sportskeeda reported a few days ago.
Dohling has been a fixture of the Tata Football Academy and Lajong, but suffered a bad knee injury that put him out of commission for several months and he required extensive physiotherapy to get him back into the Lajong team.
He made his I-League debut on 17th February 2016 away to Mohun Bagan but only became a regular in the SLFC team towards the end of the 2017-18 I-League season.
In all he has made 19 appearances for Lajong in the I-League, 17 of which were starts, and scored once (in the 2-2 draw at home against East Bengal on 5th March 2018).
Dohling has played in all but one of Lajong’s 14 matches this season and has worn the captain’s armband in the place of Samuel Lalmuanpuia on a handful of occasions.
He had himself admitted that he was looking to other pastures. In an interview with Times of India last year he said, “This is my last year with Lajong. I hope to get a good ISL offer next.”
