Shillong, Feb 11: A brace by Donlad Diengdoh on either side of a Brolington Warlarpih goal saw Meghalaya beat Tripura 3-0 in their first Group A match of the Santosh Trophy North East zone qualifiers in Aizawl today.
Diengdoh netted his first goal in only the 11th minute and captain Warlarpih doubled the lead a few minutes from half time (42′).
Early into the second 45 minutes Diengdoh recorded his brace with another goal in the 53rd minute.
Tripura will battle hosts Mizoram on 13th February while Meghalaya’s next game will come on 15th February against the hosts, which is likely to be the match that will decide which team from the group progresses to the next round of the competition.
