Shillong, May 30: The IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Feeder Tour will return to Shillong, with the beginning of the second edition scheduled for tomorrow.
Reigning champion Souvik Nayak will aim to defend his title, while Kolkata’s Samridh Sen will also start as one of the tournament favourites, a press release stated yesterday.
This year will feature several local golfers, like Statesman Cup winner Lakshya Bajaj, who will be taking part. Local juniors Thongvanglen Hansing, Sidhant Singhania, Shaurya Goenka, Deep Bajaj, Divyanshi and Srivani Agarwal are also participating in the event, which is a platform for North East golfers to enter the Indian golfing scene.
Friday will be a practice day, with the first round to be held on Saturday. It will be a two-round strokeplay event with five categories – amateur, mid-amateur, senior, super-senior and ladies.
The even is being hosted by Shillong Club (golf section) in association with the Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society.
