Shillong, Jun 11: They’ve been made to wait a while, but Ryntih were able to celebrate their first victory of the U-18 Shillong Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Laban at Third Ground, Polo, today.
A Warjri scored the only goal in the game for Ryntih in the 72nd minute.
The first half was entertaining enough, but both sides missed out on chances. Around the 20th minute Aiban Khongsngi headed over a header off a corner kick despite having a largely empty goal to aim at.
Ryntih’s best first half chance came in the 40th minute when a through ball was provided for Warjri, who went one-on-one with Laban goalkeeper Aiban Suchiang. However, the No. 16 took a touch too long to pull off a shot and Suchiang was able to clear the ball away.
Then, four minutes later, Benny Khriam made a good attempt for Laban with a long-range free-kick, but the ball cannoned into the crossbar.
Warjri would make up for his earlier error by scoring in the 72nd minute to give his side their first victory of the season and to move them off 12th position and drop Lawsohtun into bottom place.
Tomorrow Marbisu are scheduled to take on Nongkrem at the revised time of 1PM.
