Shillong, Aug 27: Rangdajied United smashed Laban 5-0 in their Shillong Premier League match at the JN Stadium here today.
Woeful Laban defending led to Rangdajied scoring through Dawanchwa Challam (20′) and Ronaldkydon Lyngdoh Nonglait (22′).
Challam received a cross and tapped it in, while Lyngdoh Nonglait had more of a battle with the Laban defenders, but still managed to get the ball over the line.
Laban were slow and, if anything, even worse than when they went down 1-0 to Ryntih last week in the season opener.
In the 55th minute a cross came in from the right and Challam, vying with Laban goalkeeper Mohammed Shahnawas, won through and headed the ball into the net.
Challam wasn’t able to get his hat-trick, however, but his replacement – Samson Nongrum – scored a brace of his own, first tapping in a ball that was cut back towards him in the 85th minute before chipping one over Shahnawas in the 90th.
Laban had a couple of chances, their closest being a shot on the upright by Pynshong Shadap in the second half.
Rangdajied are now top of the table with four points, while Laban are still looking to get off the mark.
Tomorrow Nongrim Hills are scheduled to face Shillong Lajong at 3:30PM.
