Shillong, Oct 23: Lajong made absolute mincemeat of Laban in the Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium here today winning the match 6-0.
In the first leg Lajong had thrashed Laban 4-0 on 28th August.
Today Kynsailang Khongsit scored in the 14th minute, Maxderiduff Wahlang in the 35th, Phrangki Buam in the 40th and 55th, Parvaj Bhuiya in the 69th and Naorem Mahesh Singh in the 86th.
Khongsit scored off a corner kick taken by Naorem with Laban’s defenders standing as still as statues as the ball came in. Khongsit then provided an assist for the second goal, which Wahlang fed into the back of the net from just outside the box with a left-footer. Buam then smashed in the third goal a few minutes later with a low free-kick.
Buam then went on to score the first goal of the second half with a powerful volley low to the goalkeeper’s right and Bhuiya took the score to 5-0 almost 15 minutes later. Lajong weren’t done yet, however, with Naorem picking up a goal of his own after his shot took a deflection and went into the net.
Stephanson Pale and Eijingmut Lyngdoh were two of the only bright spots in Laban’s game today, but they didn’t get much of the ball until the second half. Laban didn’t take a single shot in the first 45 minutes.
Lajong have now moved to 15 points, two behind Rangdajied United but still with a game in hand. Laban stay rock bottom with six points.
Tomorrow Langsning are scheduled to face Nongrim Hills at 2:45PM.
