Shillong, Feb 5: Lamare FC defeated Mawkhar 4-2 on penalties in the first quarterfinal of the Laitkseh Premier Football Tournament today.
Full time ended 0-0 and Lamare scored off all four of their penalty kicks, while Mawkhar failed to convert two of theirs. Lamare goalkeeper Neithovilie Chalieu was named man-of-the-match.
Mawkhar had reached the quarters by defeating Nongtalang 1-0 on 28th January.
Lamare had also required penalties to win their first round match when they beat Sehlung FC 4-2 on 13th January.
The next game will be the last pre-quarterfinal fixture, between Ryntih and Shillong Lajong (which had earlier been postponed), on 13th February.
