Shillong, Feb 16: Seven Brothers got the better of Khliehmawlieh in their quarterfinal fixture of the Mawten Invitation Football Tournament 5-3 on penalties after full time finished with the scores level at 2-2.

Hopefulson Wanniang put Khliehmawlieh into the lead in only the eighth minute, but man-of-the-match Shanbok Nongsiej (pictured) equalised in the 16th for Seven Brothers.

Wanniang then restored Khliehmawlieh’s lead in the 34th minute with a fine strike and they went into the half time break leading 2-1.

In the second half Seven Brothers piled on the pressure and found the equaliser again in the 65th minute when Nongsiej headed in a cross from Pynshai Lathong.

The scoreline could’ve been a lot higher had it not been for some excellent saves from the two goalkeepers and the game thus went into a tiebreaker where Seven Brothers emerged victorious 5-3.
