Shillong, Jul 16: In a cautious relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions, the Meghalaya government on Friday announced that non-contact sports activities can resume in the state from Monday.

The announcement came from the Home Department. However, resumption of activities will depend on prior permission and regulation by the respective Deputy Commissioners or Sub-Divisional Officer.

Although not mentioned specifically in the press release, examples of non-contact sports include cricket, tennis, badminton, golf, pool, snooker, swimming, track and field, cycling, running.

Meanwhile, gyms, yoga institutes and fitness centres are also allowed to reopen subject to prior permission and regulation by the respective DC or SDO.
